Oprah Winfrey once called her BlackBerry one of her favorite things. President Barack Obama couldn't live without his, and in spite of concern over safety, he refused to part with his BlackBerry. He became the first American president who uses a cellphone.
People's all over the world were so obsessed with their BlackBerries, that the phenomenon was soon dubbed CrackBerry.
Research In Motion (RIM), is the Canadian company who manufactures Blackberry phones.
In 2008, RIM manufactured 15 per cent of all cellphones sold worldwide. There was only one competitor who had a bigger share of the market, and that is Nokia (40 per cent).
But, 5 years later, this scene changed drastically. In 2012, that 15 % success story dropped to less than 5 %. Almost half of all phones sold in the world were Samsung and Apple phones.
The reason for this drop might be found in the fact that RIM didn't innovate as fast as their competitors.
With a new CEO, Thorsten Heins, RIM now changed their name to BlackBerry, and the company is doing everything in their power to recreate themselves.

The Z10 is a touchscreen that looks very much like Apple's iPhone. The Q10 looks like a traditional BlackBerry with a keyboard.
Experts reckon that if the BlackBerry 10 operating system doesn't turn into new sales for BlackBerry, the company's future might be at risk.
To date, people seem to have a lot of mixed feelings about these new developments at BlackBerry.
The new range is a big jump from previous BlackBerries, but if you were a fan of previous BlackBerries, you should not be disappointed with the new range. It has unique features and navigates very easily.
The novelty however comes at a price, and what might put off current fants of BlackBerry is data cost and how much customers will have to pay for it.
With the new phones will come new data packages, and these will be more expensive. This may actually put the new phones out of reach of current BlackBerry users.
For BlackBerry the company however, this is a necessary move.
With this new offering BlackBerry is throwing everything into the works, and is proving that it is ready to compete with Samsung and Apple at the top of the market where users have the most money.
Time will tell if these moves were wise.
